Emergency Town Hall on Kinder Morgan

The Liberal government announced today that they'll be handing over $4.5 billion of Canadian taxpayers' money to Texas oil company, Kinder Morgan, to purchase the Trans Mountain pipeline's existing assets. The hefty price tag doesn't include the construction of the proposed expansion of the pipeline. Canadians' pension revenues in the Canada Pension Plan may be invested in the pipeline expansion.

This is shameful and irresponsible. The cost of meeting the shortfall for clean water on First Nations reserves is $3.2 billion. Instead, the Liberals want to buy a 65-year old pipeline for $4.5 billion that endangers the future of Victoria and the south coast of BC. Like you, Murray is extremely concerned about the risk of diluted bitumen oil spills.

Join us for a discussion on the environmental, economic and legal implications of this buyout. MP Murray Rankin will be joined by Professor Harry Swain, former Federal Deputy Minister.

All are welcome and refreshments will be served.
