Since being elected Victoria's MP in 2012, Murray Rankin has focused on key priorities for our community, advocating for affordable housing, stronger environmental protections and investments in clean energy, more federal funding for health care in BC, and much more.
As well as operating a community office on Fort Street to help constituents with seniors benefits, citizenship services and other federal programs, Murray Rankin hosts regular public townhalls on topics of local interest. Past events have covered electoral reform, the Enbridge pipeline, Bill C-51, violence against women, and building a clean energy economy.
A local infrastructure priority for Murray is the Belleville International Ferry Terminal. In cooperation with local businesses and the City of Victoria, Murray is pushing hard for investment from Ottawa to revitalize our Inner Harbour ferry terminal, a key source of tourism revenue and local jobs.
Together with the Songhees Nation and UVic's Environmental Law Centre, Murray is exploring ways to better protect the unique ecosystem of the Oak Bay islands.
