Two Years Later: An Update on Medical Assistance in Dying

Friday June 15th, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
James Bay New Horizons
234 Menzies Street
Victoria, British Columbia V8V 2G

t's been two years since the federal government passed legislation that allows eligible Canadian adults to request medical assistance in dying (Bill C-14). Vancouver Island has the highest MAiD rate in the country at 3-4%. The rest of the country averages at about 1%. Is Island Health the model for best practice? What issues and concerns are we facing? How are MDs finding the practice of MAiD? Are individuals finding it difficult to qualify for MAiD? These are some of the topics we will explore through a moderated panel with questions from the audience.

Panellists include:
Murray Rankin, Member of Parliament for Victoria
David Robertson, MD and Island Health's executive lead on MAiD

Stefanie Green, MD and founder of Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers
Konia Trouton, MD
Jeffrey Brooks, Chair of Dying with Dignity Victoria Chapter
