On December 11, Canada Post announced its plan to eliminate home delivery, drastically increase postage rates, and eliminate up to 8,000 jobs across Canada.

These changes could have significant impacts on small business and individuals in Victoria, particularly seniors and persons with disabilities.

Victoria Member of Parliament Murray Rankin will host a public meeting to discuss the proposed changes, hear from community members about how they might be affected, and talk about constructive solutions to meet the needs of individuals and businesses in Victoria.

The discussion will be moderated by Victoria-Swan Lake MLA Rob Fleming and we will be joined by some great guest speakers, including:

- Marianne Alto, Victoria City Councillor & CRD Director
- Janet Barney, President, Canadian Union of Postal Workers (local 850)
- Phil Crowson, Canadian National Institute for the Blind
- Mike Hanson, Executive Director, Victoria Disability Resource Centre

The event will be free and open to all. Coffee and tea will be provided.
